Location – Albert Drive Studios
Weather – Cold but Sunny
Just spent a lovely day with the whole team of the ALBERT DRIVE project. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience of meeting all the artists and project team. We shared artistic approaches, feelings about our communities and the changes we would like to see. This day has already started to form some of my approaches to my residency which has been inspired by what I heard from other people.
It was a lovely environment where we got to share objects that have special meaning to us and reflect our artistic approaches. I brought a decorated oil lamp that I bought from a truck artist in Pakistan during my last trip, an object that represented part of my old heritage and inspires me in my current place of being.
The walk along the whole of Albert Drive was the most I’ve walked in recent times and reminded me of study trips when I was at college. This is what excites about this project, that chance to learn again in a different context, to be invigorated by our environment, to understand the communities we live in and to share those ideas with an audience from Albert Drive and beyond.
